The future for the region is exciting, with strong investment, business and industry opportunities...and you can be a part of it!

With a range of local shopping facilities in Cannonvale, along with bustling cafes, banks and the area’s major post office, major infrastructure developments in the wider region include commercial, industrial and tourism investment and expanded community facilities, providing ongoing business opportunities and ensuring future economic growth and sustainability.

Play

Well known for its relaxing lifestyle, Cannonvale is perfectly positioned within minutes of all that Airlie Beach has to offer. Stroll along the boardwalk trail, cool off at the beach away from the big crowds, explore the rock pools, then finish up at the cafes, bars and restaurants at the end of every day!

The great outdoors not your thing? Residents of the region also enjoy access to contemporary facilities for rainy days, including museums and art galleries.

Alternatively, explore farther afield and head to the Coral Sea Marina Resort or Shute Harbour to jump on board a cruise to the Whitsundays archipelago and the Great Barrier Reef; or launch your own trailer boat at the Volunteer Marine Rescue Club on Altmann Avenue! Either way, the rural and coastal region features beaches, rainforests and inviting tracts of national park - ready for you to discover.

Location, location, location

The Whitsunday region

Located in the very heart of tropical Northern Queensland, the Whitsunday region is all about lifestyle, opportunity and prosperity.

Situated between the major towns of Mackay and Townsville, the area includes the townships of Cannonvale, Airlie Beach, Bowen, Collinsville and Proserpine.

The region encompasses a total land area of almost 24,000 square kilometres, and is home to just over 35,500 permanent residents.

With over $4.7 billion in major projects planned or under construction, the region is preparing for growth over the next 10 years. The strength of the local economy is anticipated to support population growth with the Cannonvale region growing by 4.58 per cent in the year to June 2023, exceeding the state average of 2.4 per cent.

At 30-39 years, the median age group is young, while the percentage of the community aged 60 years or older sits at 20.67%. At 4,122 families, the “two persons in family” cohort is the most common.

Cannonvale and Airlie Beach

With a population of just over 5,800, Cannonvale is perfectly located three kilometres from Airlie Beach, or a short four minute drive.

The average age of residents is a vibrant 20-39, enabling them to take full advantage of this tourism and boating mecca. The area offers an amazing array of water activities, while the scenic surrounds also include one of Queensland’s Great Walks in the Conway National Park.

The mountainous 22,500 hectare National Park surrounds Airlie Beach, effectively limiting the amount of land available for development along this idyllic strip of coast.

While the Whitsunday property market in general continues to thrive, construction projects currently highlight a shift in development toward Cannonvale and Cannon Valley. New estates in these areas are closer to shopping centres and schools, and are a popular choice with young families and first home buyers.

Median house prices over the last year is $715,500, and if you are seeking an investment property the median rent for houses is $750 per week, with a median rental yeild of 4.94%
